WhatsApp constantly keeps updating its software to include new features in order to provide smooth messaging and call experience to its users. The instant messaging service took out a plethora of features recently. Some of the features are still under development while a few have been rolled out as stable updates for both Android and iOS users.
We bring to you some of the latest updates that were rolled out this week:
Call waiting support: In the update version 2.19.120 WhatsApp introduced call waiting support. Currently, the update is only available for iPhone users. The Android update will be rolled out soon, according to reports. In this update, users will be able to receive another WhatsApp call while they are already on one call.


Earlier, the receivers didn't get a call waiting notification and instead, it would notify the user of a 'Missed call' once they disconnected the current call. On the other hand, the caller got to know that the receiver is busy as the app flashed the message 'on another call' when the caller would try calling.
Self-destructing message feature: Although currently available on Android Beta version, this update will automatically delete a message after a particular period of time as set by the user.
Once available, the 'Delete Message' feature will come with a toggle on/off button and users can choose a particular time interval for the messages to automatically disappear. There are five options for time intervals to choose from - 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month and 1 year. Accordingly, the messages sent to that chat will disappear. For instance, if the user opts for 1 hour time interval, the messages sent post-selection will be deleted after an hour. The feature is not a new feature in the app market. Other social apps such as Snapchat, Telegram already rolled out this feature quite a while back. In fact, WhatsApp is late in following suit.


Multiple device support: According to WABetaInfo report, a blog that tracks WhatsApp developments, the Facebook-owned social messaging app may soon add the feature of multiple device support to its Android app. However, a similar feature has been rolled out in the WhatsApp Beta version for iPhones.
For the time being, the WhatsApp Beta for iOS 2.19.120.20 has the new feature called 'Registration Notifications', which can prove to be very useful when an iPhone or iPad user requests a new code from a second device.
In this Beta feature, there is a hidden string that displays, "The recipient’s device list changed. Tap Verify to confirm the new security code." This essentially will notify the users whenever someone tries to log into their accounts or register themselves to a new WhatsApp account with users' phone numbers, thus, enhancing security and encryption of messages across the instant messaging app. However, there is no other detail of this feature as of now

Some cybersecurity incidents sound like a paradox, such as this one. Reportedly, the cybersecurity firm Prosegur suffered a ransomware attack following which, the company shut down its network. Prosegur Suffered Ransomware Attack Reportedly, the Spanish cybersecurity firm Prosegur recently fell victim to a ransomware attack. The incident disrupted the company’s telecommunication platform causing its network to shut down. The incident surfaced online after users noticed that the firm’s website went offline. Users complained about service disruptions. Prosegur confirmed the security incident via an official statement on Twitter. Though the firm confirmed some security measures were taken, they eventually stopped all communications with users as a precaution.
